Crowns and Bridges in in Tampa & St. Petersburg

No matter how well you care for and maintain your teeth, most of us need to have a tooth repaired at some point.

Our doctors believe in being as conservative as possible with the treatment they recommend; however, if a tooth becomes fractured, damaged, or injured beyond what a filling can repair, they may recommend a dental crown to restore your smile.

What Is a Dental Crown?

Designed to fit over your tooth like a “cap,” a crown actually replaces your whole tooth structure with a new porcelain tooth. Your new tooth is custom designed to match your existing teeth and will function just like your natural tooth, while protecting your natural root structure. A crown will allow you to chew, floss and brush just as you always did, and high-quality porcelain is a very reliable and durable replacement for your tooth.

A tooth that has sustained excessive wear, a root canal, an injury, or a severe fracture may be a good candidate for a porcelain crown. The process typically takes a couple of appointments and two to four weeks to complete from start to finish. You will wear a temporary crown while a dental laboratory builda a custom-made crown based on impressions taken by our doctors. Once your crown is complete, you’ll have full function and beauty restored to your smile.

What Is a Dental Bridge?

For those patients who struggle with a missing tooth, a dental bridge may be the right treatment recommendation. Using two crowns that anchor to your existing teeth, a prosthetic tooth attached to the crowns literally “bridges” the gap and fills in the space left by your missing tooth. A bridge also works well for replacing multiple adjacent missing teeth.

Our team uses their artistry and skill to design your bridge to match your remaining teeth and naturally complete your smile. It’s important to keep your anchor teeth healthy with regular dental visits and excellent home care to ensure the longevity of your bridge. With the proper care, your bridge can last for many years.

At Modern Day Smiles, we take every measure to help you prevent dental treatment from becoming a necessity; however, if you should find yourself with a tooth in need of repair, you can rest assured that you’re working with our top dental professional team.
